new: polli tea light shade

when holidays roll around i start to find myself interested in candles of all types- as long as they aren’t the overwhelmingly smelly kind from yankee candle store. yikes those are strong. something about holiday meals spent with family makes me want to light candles and enjoy everything with soft, flickering light. so when i light my christmas table this year i’ll definitely be looking into these stainless steel tea light shades from polli in australia. each small shade has an intricate pattern and cut-out and is actually bent into shape to form a 3d candle holder (the candle sits on an internal metal shelf). you can choose from three designs and shop online right here. [thanks, maja!]

LOVE the wreath! It may be too rich for my blood – do you know whether the artist ever offers an after-Christmas sale? Wow. It’s so striking!

Seconding the love of the red wreath – I’d want one I could hang up over the course of the year though…and thinking about it now, I think this might be a really nice DIY project. And if (read: when) I fail, I’ll simply gift it to my mom for christmas! Win win!

I like some Yankee Candles, specifically the ones that smell like things I can’t put in my apartment – live Christmas trees and the like – but some of them smell so awful. Personally I’d rather make my house smell like Christmas cookies by BAKING them.

I watched Yankee Candle Co. grow from a little shop in South Deerfield, Massachusetts into the huge corporation it is now. I find most of their scents WAY too strong – but I confess I put one of their “car jars” – a coconut one – under the seat in my car. :-)
I require (unscented) candlelight every night when the days are short. Lighting several and putting them in the window is the first thing I do when I get home in the evening. Surprising – IKEA has great candles. They are SO inexpensive, and burn really well.

That wreath is great! That would be a great papercutting project… if only I could draw!

Yep, the red wreath is rad1 I agree about the candles, I would rather just smell beeswax. I bet those shades cast lovely shadows too!
