affordable artwork: alyson fox and chris silas neal

because we’re all feeling the squeeze of the current economic situation, i’ve been paying attention to affordable artwork a lot lately. there’s not shortage of great prints available online and this one by alyson fox at little paper planes ($50) caught my eye. i love the hand-drawn frame around the woman, it’s almost doesn’t need a frame because it’s built in. i’d love to hang it on a photo line with clips in a dressing room, it just has that feminine feel to me.

i’m also loving these two prints ($50 and $24.99) by chris silas neal at thumbtack press. he has such a nice way with color. click here to pick them up online or view the rest of his work for sale.

I am in love with that little man swimming in the ocean.

Cute. Another good source for affordable art prints of all kinds is Imagekind.com. The digital files are chosen and loaded there by the individual artists, and you can chose to get a print in the size you want, matted and framed or not or printed on canvas.

How ironic! I just purchased those exact two Christopher Silas Neal prints from Thumbtack Press a few months ago. I’m really happy with their quality and how they look in the reclaimed wood frames I got at Make A Frame in Brooklyn. I would definitely order more lovely artwork from Thumbtack’s vast selection.

Oh, I like these subtle, delicate, and dreamlike selections. :)
I live in Austin (as Alyson does) and bought a print from her last year. She’s such a lovely person; I’m glad to have met her and to see her having so many successes!
