jill malek yoga mats

i’m gonna keep it real- i’m not much of a yoga person. i did a lot of it in college (courtesy of this video), but seemed to lose track of anything fitness related when i moved to new york. but if i did head to yoga class on a regular basis, i would consider picking up one of jill malek’s new yoga mats. jill partnered with yogamatic.com to create this line of eco-friendly, biodegradable mats based on her ‘frequencies’ wallpaper patterns. if you want to pick one up (the mats sell for $85) just click here to shop on jill’s website.

Beautiful. Now when they tell me to soften my gaze, it will soften much more easily from looking at pretty patterns.

They are beautiful, but $85 for a yoga mat? I don’t think I could justify that even if I could afford it.

Yes. Thank you. I have been looking for a nice looking yoga mat to use with my wii fit, that I could leave out and it wouldn’t look horrendous.

$85 is sort of insane. While they are nice to look at the idea of a yoga class becoming the site of a fashion show is depressing.

Hi Guys! I know that the cost sounds really high for a yoga mat. The reason they are so expensive is that they are not made with that harmful pvc vinyl that cost about $20—these mats are a completely degradable product that cost a bit more to produce than the typical mats out there. When you think about, most high-end mats are $50..these mats come with a protective bag, are cleanable, do no store bacteria, AND have custom solvent-free inks printed on them. You can read more about the product on yogamatic.com!

i love these yoga mats! they are beautiful and it’s nice to know that if you accidentally lick your mat during downward dog you won’t be poisoned, ha. seriously though, i think they are gorgeous and definitely worth the cost.

It is really nice that they’re not as harmful as typical mats (mine freaks me out a little), but I don’t know if I like the idea of printed mats. I like the simplicity of the yoga studio – solid, neutral colors help me focus, patterns usually set me daydreaming. It’d be fine to say that’s just my issue, but yoga space is almost always shared space – I’d hate to bring fashion statement and distraction in there.

what a fabulous idea. i think i will go stencil my yoga mat myself!

I think these are lovely, and restful. Love that they are 100% biodegradable, too…and when I factor that in, with how pretty they are, AND they come with a bag, too? Not that ridiculous, actually.
