new: modern-twist

in honor of recipe fridays, i wanted to post these beautiful new placemats from kat at modern-twist. her gorgeous easy-to-clean silicone mats are a favorite for mine because they’re cute enough to use for adults, but perfect for visiting guests of the smaller variety. kids can spill on them and all you have to do is rinse them in the sink and you’re good to go. sure beats dry cleaning fancy linen or lace placemats (although they have a special place in my heart, they’re just not as practical). kat recently traveled to paris and was inspired by traditional damask patterns and decided to put a little spin on them with some help from jules at brand bird. i love the way they incorporated forks and chickens into the pattern in a way that’s still chic and modern. there are always some new children’s designs right here courtesy of carrie gifford or red cap cards. click here to check it all out and find a retailer near you. if you’re visiting the ny gift fair check out modern-twist in the handmade section, booth #5532. [thanks, kat!]

[ps: if you're showing at the ny gift fair and want to submit new product designs just shoot me an email right here. i'll be in savannah for wedding planning that weekend so i won't be able to attend this season]

i’m sorry- we’re working on it. as you can tell, the site has been down more times than i can even count this week due to an increase in traffic. while it’s great to have more people reading, my server can’t handle all the image requests so i’m trying to move my images onto a sep. server. i hope to have this resolved by next week. sorry for the trouble- i promise you i’m a thousand times more annoyed than anyone out there- this whole server mess has been such a nightmare.

speaking of which, if anyone knows unix and apache well i’m looking for some help fixing the problems on the back end of the site…

Modern twist makes my favorite coasters which I use all the time.
I am so in love with the new kid’s designs by Carrie Gifford. Her cards are great too. Thanks Grace!

I still say..the best part of having Modern-twist, is working with great Independent designers..and they have all been just so incredible..it is so nice to share your passion with them..and to pull something so cool together. We support the work of Independent designers..and hope that we can help bring products to the market that makes them proud. It is not easy to survive in this market, the funding and work that goes behind it is back breaking. We just heard from Matte Stephens he will be in Johnathon Adler Stores..we are so excited for him as he did our last set of placemats..He also had great exposure in the Asian Media through M-t prodcuts..( we had Amy Ruppel and Rex Ray before ) The new kids mats are fantastic..you can color them in..and simply rinse them..reuse..you have to go to the site and see what Carrie Gifford did..Our tortoise Zizou and my 3 kids initials are on the mats ..after all they are the first inspectors on any M-t product..and they are a tough crew to please.
