it’s always fun to see the homes behind our favorite designers and today we’re getting a little peek into the home of bryan wark (check out his before & afters here and here). his home at the top of laurel canyon (los angeles) is located on a street that was planned mainly by artists & designers. byran describes his favorite interiors as eclectic and combining different styles and periods, believing “a well designed home reflects the people that live in it.” thanks so much, bryan! and stay tuned for two more great sneak peeks to come! -anne

The large landscape painting in the living room is by a CA figurative painter, Andrew Krim. It is definitely one of my prize possessions that I bought from the artist when I was in art school & he let me pay for it in installments over many years. We love books, primarily art & design & they have almost become part of the architecture of our space.
We love the classic mid-century lines of our 1953 home & the walls of glass that open out to our yard.
The famous landscape architect Garret Eckbo lived on our street & planted the now 100 foot tall pine trees as a wind break. Pierre Koenig’s iconic Case Study House No 21 is across the street & architectural photographer Julius Shulman, now 98 years old lives a block away.
