Hello!

Hi I’m Abbey. Grace, thanks so much for inviting me to guest blog this week.

A few things about me:

a) I love design; the funky, the obscure, the beautiful.

b) I’m studying to be a design historian (makes sense I guess when you think about (a)).

c) I believe in living comfortably and that everyone has style.

d) My last meal would be cheese pizza and a great bottle of red wine.

On my mind today:

1. Red lacquer bentwood chairs. I adore Thonet’s iconic black café chairs and am thinking about going DIY on a set from the fantastic Kurt Peterson.
2. Back Issues of my favorite magazines. Just this week I’ve bought back issues of Domino (RIP!), Charm, and Martha Stewart Baby.
3. Vintage snapshots of empty theaters are just obsessively on my mind.
4. Vintage Interior Design Books I love Mary & Russel Wright’s Guide to Easier Living, Alexandra Stoddard’s 1974 Style for Living, and Edith Wharton’s The Decoration of Houses.
5. Wallpaper from Swedish firm Sandberg.

Oooh Charm is the perfect name for a magazine – I’m going to put that one on my ebay list!

Can’t wait to see what you have coming up this week!

I say go for it with the chairs. The world needs more red Thonet. And wasn’t Martha Stewart Baby a trove of awesome? So sad it was so short lived.
