stop motion magic + new server

yesterday my friend bryan was in town and we spent the better part of the afternoon watching seriously immature youtube videos like the cinnamon challenge and kittens book. but then he pointed me in the direction of this incredible stop motion video by israeli artist, oren lavi. whether you listen with or without sound, this video is a MUST-WATCH. it’s like a magical wonderland of bed-time fun. (in a non-dirty, work-safe way)

ps: just in case you loaded d*s yesterday and noticed that monday’s posts were missing, i just wanted to clarify that yesterday we switched servers, and unfortunately it didn’t pick up yesterday’s posts. thankfully i was able to recode everything, but we lost comments. i was able to get them in the cache and repost them manually, but today everything should be running smoothly. thanks for your patience!

Wow. That is just beautiful! It’s so easy to forget what you’re looking at and just be immersed by the story!

Wow! That stop motion video is incredible! I started watching it and thought yeah it’s okay, but when it started to turn clothes into people it began to get seriously impressive!

This is fabulous! The “underwater” part was my favorite- sock fish- genius! Just an incredible reminder of how impressively creative some people are! Thanks for sharing.

As someone who was part of the original MTV generation (staying up till midnight in 2nd grade to watch Thriller!), I’m so happy to see the tide turn towards videos rich in creativity, not budget. This was lovely. Also, because I know you have expressed frustration with Mt, do you mind if I asked to which server you switched?

Oh! Saw this on the Imogene blog a couple weeks ago and haven’t stopped thinking about it. Such a beautiful video.
It was made by husband & wife team Yuval & Merav Nathan.
Sadly, I just read that there’s some controversy associated with it though…. the guy who made this video a while back, is suggesting his ideas were appropriated unfairly… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ygvt7G1DLs&feature=channel_page
If you start watching it around the 3min40sec mark…. it IS pretty similar…
coincidence?

This is a beautiful and moving video. I viewed the other video and am sorry to hear there is controversy around this. In my opinion, it seems fair enough to say this video was ‘inspired by’ the other but truly, it is so much more.

Some of my students pointed me to this a while back. What a wonderful idea. Check out the cover from Art in America a couple of months back. An artist was doing very similar work on the tops of buildings.

I love this! The way the woman’s movements are reminds me of how dogs move when they are dreaming. So different from most music video’s. I love how it towards the end she’s in the fetal position, very symbolic on so many levels.
