truly smitten

il_fullxfull58364964
well hello, lovely cards on which i want to write everyone i know a note! i love a sparingly used flourish, and lord knows i love a good metallic ink/foil so these cards are right up my alley. sarah at truly smitten recently released these beautiful letterpressed notecards and now i’m dying to find a reason to send thank yous. maybe i’ll just hold on to them for after the wedding. in the meantime, you can pick up a set of 6 cards and envelopes right here for $18. [thanks, sarah!]

ps: for any top chef-ers who love carla as much as i do (hootie!), read this and get ready to feel your blood boil. casey is now on my you-know-what list. grrrr….this sponge is angry.

so pretty!

i think so many people wanted Carla to win, but it’s unfair to bad-mouth Casey when Carla knew what she was doing. in the end, it was her decision, and unfortunately, she didn’t make the best choices. she’s still a great chef though.

i think it’s fair to feel that casey was completely out of line in bashing carla, when in every interview i could find online, carla did nothing but say nice things about casey, tell people NOT to blame her, and then took full responsibility for her decisions.

casey could have said things in a different way, but chose to come across and bitter and angry. it irked me when casey said she wasn’t trained- carla is a trained cook. it’s as if casey wanted to belittle her as a chef and a person. not cool in my book.

!!!!!!!!!!!!! i always disliked Casey. is that for real?! i just seriously can’t see anyone saying that about Carla. she seems like the nicest person ever. Have a little tact Casey, what a bi***….ugh. you’re right, my blood is boiling! haha. Hope Top Chef never has her return. It’s funny how people like Marcel even manage to come off mild-mannered and somewhat normal next to her!

if only Carla would have gotten to PICK her sous chef first instead of drawing knives first — how was that an advantage anyway?

I think Carla came out the winner anyway. She’s a cool girl with a great catering biz in the glam-est town in the world these days. Carla will be fine!

And Hosea? Whatev..

These cards are gorgeous!

And I SO wanted Carla to win. Love her ‘love’ in the cooking. And because the two other dudes were more hell bent on beating each other than being Top Chef. Egomaniacs!

i was disappointed in the finale in general- the three courses didn’t seem like enough (i think stefan would have one for sure if there was a fourth course), my two favorite cooks failed (stefan and carla) and i just felt like there wasn’t any excitement. but i loved that carla said “i came here to show another way of competing- with love- and i succeeded in doing that”. she’s so wonderful. i can’t wait to book a meal at her chef’s table in dc when it’s up and running.

these notecards are stunning in their simplicity… can’t wait to see more from TrulySmitten

and I think a lot of us were just smitten with Carla… Hosea definitely shouldn’t have won the whole competition, but I’m consoling myself with the idea that Carla’s driving around with her family in that new Toyota feeling very proud of herself for being true to herself regardless of the outcome!

in previous shows, it seemed like everyone went home for a while and then came back for the finale. they seemed to have thought about it, prepped for it. this season it seemed like the finale was a day or two after the last show and it was just another challenge. Nobody seemed to have thought the thing through

I actually wanted Stefan to win, but I really loved Carla and would have been really happy if she won because I think she really deserved it. It broke my heart when Stefan started to cry because Carla was crying.

in my mind carla DID win! exactly because she did compete differently, like she wanted to. she is wonderful. i can’t believe that casey would do that! how can people be so mean?!

Carla will definitely end up being the most successful of all three. Who wants to eat food made with “obnoxious spitefulness”? Uh uhhhhh.

Those cards are so elegant. I LOVE them.

I have been a huge fan of Truly Smitten for a long time. She designed my wedding invitation set. Sarah’s work is exquisite and she is also a joy to work with!

And yeah, Casey = bleh!

I was horrified by the top chef finale — I LOVE carla… did you see this article on Gawker — I thought it summed my feelings pretty well

It’s hard for me to believe that those words are truly Casey’s…who would say something like that? I don’t think anyone gave any real credence to the idea that Casey sabotaged Carla or led her astray — Carla clearly had a lapse of confidence and bad luck. She tripped herself up, much to my own disappointment. I was definitely rooting for her — HootyHoo!

I love the cards.

As concerns the Top Chef finale. I was dissapointed with the outcome but absolutely floored by the tactless comments of Casey concerning Carla’s performance. Carla had already admitted to the judges that she did not do her best work so Casey’s comments were obviously unnecessary, cruel and mean-spirited. Wow!

Carla was a wonderfully positive soul, who epitomized the love that true chefs bring to the art of food. I live in Dallas where that idiot Casey is from and so many people are so up her behind because they think she’s so wonderful. All I can say is thank God she no longer lives here. It’s like when a beautiful woman has an ugly soul, she is not so beautiful after all. Even if Casey was the best cook in the world I would NEVER want to eat the food of someone who can heartily spill such vitriol to someone who has been nothing but gracious to her.

I will now step off my soap box…
