For my last post I thought I’d give you a glimpse into some British homes. I’m fascinated by the way interiors in the UK are so often about modernizing and manipulating old, small spaces. Here’s a few below… as well as some general eye candy. It’s Friday after all!

This monochrome room is a perfect showcase for the crazy red chair. Shall we all be painting our floors to match the walls?

This place is a child’s dream come true. The whole top floor of this house by Ab Rogers Design has futuristic pods that open out into beds, desks, and play areas. There is even a slide to the floor below. Those are some seriously lucky kids!

This room is pretty perfect. White walls. Painted ceiling. Genius.

A very glam bijou kitchen from Abigail Ahern. No one does dark colours better.

Check out this tiny flat by Bramante Architects. The yellow breakfast table slides back and forth between the kitchen and living area. Small spaces breed clever ideas!

The new Rough Luxe hotel provides contemporary amenities, while maintaining many rough and structural elements of the historic building. The balance in this bathroom is just right. Are unfinished walls a trend on the rise?

I love the color combinations in this room by the legendary Studio Ilse – I would never think to put them together. I guess that’s why she’s legendary.

Suzy Hoodless‘ design for this Scottish ski lodge has perfect woodsy, rustic charm. (That being said, I might be afraid to actually stay there.)

Contemporary furniture in a historic property can often go so wrong. This is what it looks like when it’s all right. From location agency, 1st Option.

An inspired orange stripe to match the runner.

Jonathan Tuckey does fantastic remodels. I am particularly taken with this open plan kitchen – I could happily move right in!
