recycled bottle lights + karen gelardi

ceiling-light
this morning is a great morning. why? because american idol turned out exactly the way i hoped last night! i don’t want to spoil the outcome for anyone who hasn’t watched it (or who cares) but this morning i’m a happy lady. so i thought i’d start the day with some eye-candy that also has me smiling: lighting made from recycled plastic bottles by sara turner of redesign. they’re part of EDF energy ideal home show in london. nottingham trent university’s enterprise development center- “the hive”- collects plastic bottles from the university cafes and gives them to sarah to clean and sandblast (to get the white color) for her work. such a great way to reuse college cafe waste. click here for more information on sarah’s work.

it’s also a great morning because maria has a fantastic post with karen gelardi on the d*s guest blog. i’m a huge fan of karen (and her beautiful home) so click here to check out a peek at her studio work….

fabulous lights! I have made some water bottle chandeliers, and have seen many variations… but this is extraordinary!

That is so beautiful (and quirky… which makes me love it even more.) I would have never guessed it was plastic, let alone recycled bottles!

That light fixture is fantastic! It reminds me of the IQ Light [you can see it in a photo of our dining area]. It’s a similar idea of interlocking, modular pieces, but this one is way cooler because it recycles materials. Swoon!
