me too, sian! i got the gold cause i thought they’d be more practical but now i want to go back to my original choice. the shoe salesman was like “get the gold, you won’t regret it”. but now i miss the blush.

Wow, I can’t get past the $845 price tag to even have any opinion.

I must be some kind of nut but I could NEVER spend that much on one pair of shoes, whatever the occasion.

I don’t begrudge anyone the right too. Still just a little shocked that people actually do…

I think the gold ones will never ever go out of fashion and are far more versatile than the blush. Lovely.

The blush looks soft and feminine – ideal for an accessory to any wedding dress. If it was your original choice and you miss it, I say that’s confirmation enough.

I love the folk art feel to this card especially in that wonderful cabbage green.

I say keep the gold–the blush is really pretty, but I wonder if it’s too close to flesh tone?
I think there’s a greater chance of wearing the gold many times than the blush–but then, who needs to be practical on their wedding day?

i’m still missing the blush color. i went a little nuts getting those shoes in the first place so i need to buy a color i’ll wear at least three times a month from now on to make them cost-effective. if i wear them at least three times (which is totally do-able for me because i like to dress up for drinks and a dinner out) they’ll be like $25 a month for a year. i can live with that.

I agree- go with the blush you’ll wear them a lot more often!

Wow, they’re lovely, especially the gold…but yikes, I had a hard enough time spending $100 on my wedding dress.

They are definitely a Carrie Bradshaw shoe! My vote is for the blush as well. It is a beautiful shade and something you could wear all Spring/Summer. Go with your gut instinct.

what does the dress look like? i prefer the blush on the face of it but when the dress is involved who knows!!

GOLD! The blush is pretty, but the gold is timeless and adds some sizzle to the day. The blush is so…demure. You can get demure any damn day of the week. This is your WEDDING!

I say blush. Much more unusual than the gold. You can find gold shoes just about anywhere. But that blush shade is very unique.

I’d probably go with the gold, but that’s because I’d wear them more often; but if you miss the blush, go back for them!

Jesus Christ, that’s an expensive shoe. Suits you, though, Grace!

The gold would stand out but the blush is more distinctive! You never see a shoe that color!

I also adore the Easter card. :)

I’m a silver-loving gal, and I vote for the gold… I think they are both fun and versatile — which can sometimes be a tough combo to find!

LOVE the shoes! i think i would go for gold, based on what’s in my wardrobe, but it depends on your skin tone and how well each color would go with it and your wardrobe (other than just the dress) since you want to maximize the life span of the shoes. good luck – touch choice!

um…that would be TOUGH choice :P

go with the blush!!! The color is gorgeous, soft and so unique. You can pick up a cute gold shoe anywhere. The blush color is much harder to get right and this tone is perfect! Plus if you ever wear them with a shorter skirt after your wedding your legs will look miles long since they will blend more with your skin tone.

I agree with the GOLD voters. I know I would wear them more than the blush. BUT, its your special day. You should go with your heart!

frances said:

normally i’d say gold, but the blush are perfect!

good for you for splurging on your feet on your wedding day! most of the brides i’ve worked with have regretted not getting better shoes, and they end up barefoot before the reception even begins. Shoes are just as important, if not more so, then the dress. My sister and I still fight over my mom’s wedding shoes 30 years later.

These are beautiful!

ps. what does the dress look like?

it’s long and white ;) i can’t say more because it’s going to be in MS weddings and i’m not supposed to give any details away.

I thought you’d be able to wear the gold more often.

Grace – if you’re not following someone on twitter (like me) do you see direct replies to your tweets?

April 1st, 2009 - 11:16 am

I’m so into the blush! Also my guage for loving something is when I’m thinking about it the next day. Gold can be found in another shoe…plus imagine it peeking out from under your gown. Or a gorgeous black and white picture and the only color is your shoe?

man. This makes me wish I twittered — I see you’ve made your selection, and I have to say that I agree with the ladies above + your gut instinct on the blush — but shoot, that gold is *sassy*! For sure you can’t go wrong — guess you, say, can’t get both + return the one you don’t want after sitting on it for a week? I heart returns after stewing, but I’ll admit, I’m not in this price range so I don’t know if it’s possible :D Thanks for sharing to let us live vicariously through you :D *Yea* wedding shoes!

Please, don’t feel you have to justify your purchase! I got married over 10 years ago and had a wedding that was very modest – did EVERYTHING ourselves and only spent $3,000 to $4,000 (we just wanted to have a nice party for friend and no debt from it etc). I was just thinking “holy crap, that would have been 1/3 to 1/4 of my budget!”

They are what you wanted and make you happy and you don’t have to justify it to anyone.

Go blush- They are beautiful and more fun! Don’t buy the gold just because they are more classic- especially if you are going to spend that kind of money! The blush will make you feel unique and special on your big day!

frances –

Your comment made me laugh — I didn’t spend enough time picking out my shoes and had already taken them off before the ceremony itself! My dress was long enough that no one other than my bridesmaids knew that I was walking down the aisle completely barefoot. :)

Gold. I’m not crazy about the blush, maybe because I hate patent leather. However it sounds like your decision is already made up with the mauve! ;)

April 1st, 2009 - 2:41 pm

I already replied on twitter but I vote gold. You’ll wear them more than the blush ones. At least I would. Congratulations!

Man…. I really do like the Pierre Hardy pair. Grace were they comfortable?

I really like the blush color in the Manolos. Such a pretty and sophisticated color! Manolo is a genius. I do think the blush ones are just as versatile as the gold pair but in a more subtle way. Yeah, I can’t afford a pair either but maybe I’ll save up for a pair and just not buy any more shoes for a couple of years! I hear they are really comfortable! Worth the investment!

Jeanie said:

I agree with the other folks that you should go with your gut b/c if you love the blush more you’ll start building outfits around it after your wedding. Still I do like the gold better b/c it stands out more, but I like stuff that really pops so i’m biased. When I get hitched I want bright red heels! : )

grace said:

honestly? the pierre hardy’s were super uncomfortable, or i would have been tempted to totally lose my mind and get them. but that blue, oh man, it’s gorgeous.

dear grace,
please choose gold! so classic, beautiful, and clean.

I love Spring and those papergoods! We went out in the rain last night to find a fallen branch to create a minimalist “Easter” tree for the studio. Hauled it, still dripping and larger than expected to the studio last night to place in a Penelope Wurr vase and festoon with decorative eggs.

Alas, have not yet seen the shoes…… I’ll try again.

I love the Blush… metallics are starting to get a bit tired, and the blush is very fresh and won’t scream 2008-2009 in photos. On actual feet I think the blush would come off quite neutral, too, so you’d get your $ worth!
