before & after: christy’s side table

3573910143_31ff5f28a1_o
this bright and cheery before & after comes from graphic designer christy kilgore-hadley. christy found this beat-up table by a dumpster and, despite its shabby appearance, thought the base had some potential. so she cleaned it up, painted some metal file boxes she had laying around and put them together to make a new end table with a little bit of storage. the result is so clean and crisp- great work, christy!

[have a before & after you want to share on d*s? just shoot me an email right here with your images!]

Sorry, but it looks like it should have stayed at the dumpster. To each their own.

What a great idea! Love the creativity and desire to give new life to something that would otherwise end up in the dump! Kudos!

@katie – I used spray paint. First a spray primer and then just regular old Krylon enamel. I love that stuff. :)

Katie – you usually have to spray paint metal or have it powder coated.

Hi, I like the table. Might be the scientist in me seeing this but it looks like a virus.

i love this project…color, silhouette…everything! i would store sewing stuff in it.

June 4th, 2009 - 5:48 pm

the colors are unbelievably perfect together. I have a feeling it would take some time to make it look THAT good, but it’s such a great idea!

This is lots of fun. I only wish you would have kept the chrome detail along the top of the legs.

@ Gabriel – I wish I could have, too, but it actually wasn’t chrome, it was this weird fake-gold plated something or other. If it was chrome I definitely would have kept it.

I dont get to come onto this site as often as I would like, but I love love love the before and afters. I will say though, some of you are a bit rude. There was a lot of work put into it. I, personally, think it is adorable. It took a lot of guts to even attempt to save that table base. Terrific job!
