before & after: yancy’s bedroom + caitlin’s table

yancybefore1
yancy of designing life in miami, recently decided to tackle a fun bedroom makeover, similar to jennifer’s bedroom, by creating a hand-painted forest wall behind her bed. the room before was a sad red and cream wasteland and now it looks chic and relaxing, courtesy of chocolate brown paint and yancy’s handy tree-painting. great work, yancy!

caitlinbefore
this table makeover comes from d*s reader caitlin who took an old ikea coffee table and jazzed it up with a couple different shades of woodgrain contact paper. after giving the exterior a new wood-feel, she spray painted the handles and legs a hot pink hue. i love the after- great work, caitlin1

Wow, I love the reincarnated coffeetable, although I wonder how well contact paper would hold up under regular use — will the edges start to peel up from being brushed against? Still, it’s an inexpensive and fun solution that gives a really custom look!

I love both of these makeovers. I can’t wait until I have a house and can go crazy and paint on walls. Fun!

I really like the pop of orange on the bed. And that tree mural behind it! That’s a cool room.

Oops I wanted to express more than just that excited caveman-style sentiment. I was gonna say I love the turquoise tray on the bedside table!!

Both makeovers are really great :) I really love the bedroom. It was so dark & heavy before – now it has a lighter, modern look.

Hi guys,

I’m glad you all like my bedroom makeover. Here are the answers to your questions.

The headboar is from Zgallery. I’m not sure if they still make it since we bought it a couple of years ago.

The bed linens are from The Hotel Collection, I got them at Home Goods.

If you have any more questions do not hesitate to contact me. Have a wonderful day.

Wow, both makeovers are terrific! I love that both give a woodsy, natural feel with a very modern touch. Great job!

I loved seeing the bedroom makeover. It is nice to see a bedroom (like mine) that doesn’t have vintage hardwood floors and loads of architectural details to start with being madeover into something super stylish.

I live in a New Urbanism development where the homes are fairly builder basic on the inside. I would love to see more makeovers that add character to those kinds of houses!
