weekly wrap up + slash: paper under the knife

picture-1
whew! it has been a long week so i’m heading out a tiny bit early to work on a side project for d*s (news on that soon!). so i thought it would be nice to start and end the day with beautiful paper projects. these images are from the upcoming exhibition, slash: paper under the knife, at the museum of arts and design. starting in october, the MAD will feature the work of about 50 contemporary artists from 16 countries, including sculpture and large-scale installations. and the best part? during the first week of the exhibition, visitors will also be able to watch several of the artists working on-site to install their piece. so cool- click here for more information. until monday, i hope you all have a wonderful weekend! below is a summary of this week’s highlights…[images by artist andreasĀ kocks]

I admire anyone who takes on the paper arts with such detail and commitment. You can see the quality and time and effort put into such a beautiful project.

Those are great! Do you by chance have the list of all of the artists in the show?

That is both amazing and completely inspirational. I’m in awe of people who take a very ordinary medium and expand it to unbelievable heights.

PS. for anyone in Burlington, VT tonight, check out the new exhibit at the Firehouse gallery on Church St. I have a lot of friends in the exhibit and it should be pretty incredible!

Those photos were absolutely amazing! Just when you think all avenues have been exhausted, more fabulous artists come up with a completely new take on paper sculpture. Thanks for sharing!

Have I missed something? What happened to Weeder’s Digest?

alix

there was a note about weeder’s digest in last week’s new floral column. to accommodate sarah’s busy work schedule we’ve brought on new weekly floral columnists (the girls from studio choo) running a column called “we like it wild”. sarah will join us monthly for a special weeder’s digest post. in the meantime, you can still get a beautiful weekly floral fix every thursday from the studio choo girls :)
