if american idol was about television shows and i was a judge- i would be the paula abdul of that program. i spent the majority of my time working, with bad posture, from my living room couch watching movies and television to keep me company while i work (i can’t talk to the cats all day). so when i hear about new shows i’m quick to get excited and applaud great ideas. and sundance’s new show “man shops globe” seems like a fantastic idea.

the show is based on the shopping adventures of keith johnson, the buyer-at-large for anthropologie. (can i pause for a second to say “i.want.that.job”) premiering on sundance at 10pm on wednesday october 7th, man shops globe will follow johnson as he travels to france, india, turkey and beyond to discover the incredible furniture and design objects carried in anthropologie stores. to say that i’m excited about this show would be a serious understatement. i only have one question: why didn’t anyone think of this before? buyers have some of the coolest jobs on the planet and i’ve been dying to live vicariously through them for years. and thankfully, now we can. fingers crossed the show is as interesting (and gorgeous) as it seems…

in non-tv news, over at the d*s guest blog andy has a great trio of posts lined up for today. he’s starting things off with gorgeous navajo pictorial weaving, followed by more finds from books at 10am and 12pm. click here to check out the first post!
