kara ginther + lucy’s fitzroy

ArtifactSaddle
good morning! i am so glad it’s finally friday- it’s been a seriously TGIF kinda week. but before we get started with the rest of today’s posts i wanted to thank lucy for her amazing guest posts this week! today she’s wrapping things up with a great guide to her favorites in melbourne’s fitzroy area. click here to check it out!

i also wanted to share these gorgeous leather bike seats from leather artist kara ginther in madison, wisconsin. she creates these incredible hand carved brooks saddles that are almost too pretty to sit on- though i think i could get over that eventually ;) click here to see more of kara’s work online. thanks, kara!

These seats are awesome. I just found a 1960s red raleigh for $45! replaced the tires and it’s perfect.

Wow so beautiful. Too bad I live in a city where my seat gets stolen occasionally. sigh.

I don’t even own a bike. I have no desire to ride a bike on an average day. It’s raining here so I really don’t want to ride one today but these bike seats are so BEAUTIFUL that I want one!! Seriously!

Wow, they look fantastic. Are they actually meant for riding? I would hate to spend the money on one of those gorgeous things & then find it horribly uncomfortable.

These are amazing. Trouble is, if she did my Brooks I’d have to frame it and not use it anymore. Maybe she can do my DocMartens…awe, but then I wouldn’t be able to use those again either.
Simply beautiful.

I shudder at the thought of how quickly it would be stolen…

i had the privilege of seeing the plaid seat in person this past weekend. A good friend is the proud owner. it is truly beautiful. yes, you can ride them, they are meant for riding on! also, get a seat leash…you loop in through and connect it with your bike lock so the seat is much more of an effort to steal.

how do I get one and brook ar the most comfortable seat you can ride. They do take about 100 miles of riding to mold to your bum
