i think it awesome! better to make something beautiful and use it then just let it sit there. Love the kitchen too its beautiful!

I’m sure that the wallpaper was applied on top of the leather, so it’s probably a reversible makeover… I think it’s gorgeous (perfect pattern choice for the white metal version!), but replacing rugged with fragile – if that’s what was done – would indeed be a bit of a shame in the long run.

I liked the camera treatment personally and find it pretty rude that nativeson feels it nes. to berate people for their creative endevors. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion yet forcing your own down others throuts pretty much means you suck.
Bottom line: her camera=her right to her design.

wow, harsh, nativeson. It maybe be a collector’s item, but there are a lot around, so to each their own, and I think its a beautiful decorative piece now. I’m curious if this is just for looks, or if cori has found a source for film? Didn’t they (regretably) stop making film for these cameras?

What a shame, ruining a camera in such great condition. It took me all of 2 minutes to find one with damaged leatherette and a good body on eBay…

I like the idea of actually using objects and making them your own-instead of letting “collectors items” sit on a shelf somewhere with no one using them. After all-you can’t take it with you. Beautiful job on both of these!

Not everyone is concerned about “collectors items” and how much money they’re worth. If she’s happier using her polaroid camera now, then I see no problem in that.

Destroying the value? Do you keep the plastic on the lamp shades too? Items are meant to be used and enjoyed. Clearly the owner of the polaroid is finding joy in her clever make over. That is where the value is found. On another note, AWESOME make overs by socalcontractor roy.

Bravo! Fantastic makeover on the camera! I’ve got the very same exact camera. However, it was handed down to me. The leather exterior is all cracked and worn out. The wallpaper face lift is a great idea. Thanks for sharing!

I personally like the sx-70 stock. Did you know the eames had a part in developing that camera.

Cori that is beautiful! The fact that you would makeover your camera shows how much you love using it and how passionate you are about surrounding yourself with beauty. I do have to say that the sx-70 breaks my heart. I can see making over some of the uglier polaroid cameras, but that one is so gorgeous and iconic. I can’t stand the idea of covering up the beautiful worn leather. But, to each their own.

Yes, to each their own. That means, everyone can customize their things and space so they can enjoy it even more.
I for example, would love to have Cori’s skills because the leather on my SX-70 is falling apart and the bits of it are getting in my lens, filter, everywhere.
So for me this is really inspiring.

I must say–and I DO say–that I am very impressed with the kitchen makeover. It gives me a lot of inspiration my own upcoming project. Thank you for sharing this.
