when i set out to build a guide to my favorite rugs in the market, i knew that tackling patterned rugs (as opposed to runners and solid-colored rugs) would be a hefty task. so rather than try to post all 70 images (some of which are collaged images of 4 or more designs) at once, i’m dividing the patterned-rugs guide into part 1 and 2. today is part one and next week i’ll run the second half- there were just too many to take in at once. so, i hope you’ll enjoy patterned rugs part one (i’ve tried to include a wide range of prices and styles)- tune in next week for part two. if you’d like to see part one, runners, just click here! for the full post on patterned rugs, click here- or just click “read more” below, there are 22 more rugs below.

today is the first of a three-part product roundup dedicated to rugs. over the next three weeks i’ll be rounding up a large selection of rugs divided into the following categories: runners, patterned rugs and solid/basic rugs. today we’re kicking things off with runners- my favorite way to add color to dark hallways. i’ve been looking for a great runner for months now and have come to the conclusion that i’m going to save up for a piece from bev hisey. below i’ve rounded up a selection of runners from various stores, but if you’re looking for more options these are some of my favorite shops to check for rugs and runners: velocity art and design, unica home, 2modern, target (they have more than i can even process), west elm, cb2, all modern, urban outfitters, anthropologie, crate and barrel and pottery barn. if you have any favorites you feel are missing, please add them in the comment section below and we’ll add them as we go along.

today’s last product roundup is all about shower curtains. for me, shower curtains are a chance to bring in some bold color and pattern into what is usually (at least for us city dwellers) one of the smallest spaces in your home. i’m not entirely satisfied with the shower curtain market as a whole, but there are definitely some stand-out designs and companies in the mix. that said, i’m a big fan of having your own custom curtain made. i regularly buy fabric from repro depot and purl soho that i have my local tailor sew into a shower-curtain sized square. i then cut and sew the holes myself but you can actually hire a seamstress to do this for you if you like (or use clips with curtain rings attached). to keep the fabric as safe as possible from water, be sure to use a thick plastic liner behind the fabric- ours gets wet anyway so i just make sure it dries thoroughly and i wash it every few weeks. but, if you’d rather buy something pre-made just click here to view the full guide or just click “read more” as you scroll down. enjoy!
