Design Sponge
section: kids

one quick post before i go back to bed- i’m loving argington’s new uber-modernist bunkbed for kids. sure beats those bright red steel ones i remember at friends’ houses growing up. the uffizi daybed comes with several finish options (those shown as well as a birch or walnut option) is set to debut at both brooklyn designs and icff. click here for more info on argington. [i’d love to see the bed in warmer colors, though. hopefully they’ll expand the line to include some warmer colors like yellow or a nice pear green]

cheerful modern artwork from yoon kids. yoon kids’ collection combines the activities of modern children with graphic patterns adults will appreciate. you can even selection the background and accent colors on each canvas print (as well as adding a name or birth date). click here for more information and to shop online. [be sure to check out the silhouette and patchwork collections, i think those are the cutest by far]

area home just launched a beautiful new collection of linens designed for children and babies. i’m loving this pink “globes” design above- the stitching is so soft and the pink is faint and delicate. perfect for a baby’s room…click here for the full post and shopping information.

just in time- for those of you who were psyched to see a little bit of baby content on d*s the other day…apartment therapy has launched a baby site! plenty of baby goods, design and advice for all to see. click here for the first day or at: the nursery. [chair above at sparkability]

i don’t normally post baby things but these were too fun to pass up. the market for indie baby goods is slowly growing and i thought these were a fun addition. crib sets by san francisco’s super natural baby ($320 each)- a new company that specializes in “big design, small sizes”. click here for more info.

not all design is for grown ups- sometimes the little ones need designs made especially for them. i’m loving these new bedding patterns from nurseryworks at sparkability and these super cool pendant lights at moderntots. i’d even consider the lights for myself if my house was a little funkier.

mahar

jen corace is a phenomenal artist so when i heard that she’d designed the website for mahar dry goods, i was all ears (and eyes). robert mahar wrote to tell me about his great new site that sells really unique vintage and artisan crafted goods for children. i don’t usually focus on design for children, but these pieces are really unique and special. and the site, well, jen corace did it so it’s amazing. very vintage and inspired by a 1930’s children’s book cover. all of the products at mahar were made in home and studios by artists, designers and crafters so check it out if you’re looking for some unique kids gifts or just a glimpse at some more great jen corace work. [thanks, robert!]
