new: terrain e-shop

i had to fit in one last post today- i just heard from terrain and they launched an e-commerce shop! so now those of us not in philly can appreciate the gorgeousness that is terrain’s selection of garden, home, body, and and unique “artifact” finds. i already picked out my favorites above but you can check out the full selection right here. thanks, lacey!

cast away yarn shop + portrait day

i don’t post about brick-and-mortar shops a lot because they’re so localized- but this shop was too lovely to pass up. the cast away yarn shop in santa rosa specializes in carrying a wide selection of yarn, knitting accessories and magazines for a huge range of crafting needs. in addition to supplies, cast away also hosts music events, parties and classes for local artists. but what drew me in most about the shop was its design. i love when a store makes me want to hang out inside- and i feel like i want to spend a whole week inside just checking everything out. i love all of the homey, vintage details inside the shop (especially the old stove with hot tea for customers) and the way the owners really carried the shop’s name throughout the store design.

in addition to the events listed above, cast away is holding a special event i thought might appeal to local readers in the santa rosa area. on april 25th, cast away is teaming up with photographer jessamyn harris (a favorite of mine) to offer a fun day full of offbeat portraiture and craftiness. crafters and non-crafters can come enjoy their mini portrait day and have a unique professional portrait taken by jessamyn. each limited mini-portrait session includes 20 minutes of shooting time, your choice of backdrops and crafting props to choose from, online hosting of the best images and a 5×7 print to get you started. it sounds like a great way to spend a day out with friends, so if you’re in the area be sure to drop by. if you’d like to schedule a session, just drop jessamyn an email to set up an appointment (or call 707-235-8953). if i was in town i would totally geek out and bring my cat with me for pictures.

tiffany orvet recently opened a new online store, called from sthlm, specializing in great swedish designers. each month she features a different independent swedish designer and focuses on bringing their work to the states. this month she’s starting with lotta kühlhorn and i’m loving her colorful kitchen-ware. with spring right around the corner i’m craving some bold colors. click here to check out fromsthlm and shop! colette: e-shop

if i’m ever lucky enough to go to paris again in my lifetime, i plan on spending much more time at french design mecca, colette. when ac and i visited a few years ago collette was closed for an event and i wasn’t able to check it out, but thankfully colette has opened an e-shop! so now i can browse their incredible design section, accessories, art books and much, much more. i’ve chosen some of my favorites above and below but you can view their full selection right here. they also have a section of guest blogs, some of which are pretty interesting.

shop horne

i’m a sucker for a well-curated boutique so the newly opened horne is right up my alley. owned and operated by alissa parker and her fiance ryan, horne is an online boutique based in philadelphia. specializing in beautiful pieces of art and design that are “tough enough to stand up to real-life use”, horne carries a great collection of kitchen and dining accessories that i’ve already sifted through and added to my christmas wish-list. there are pillows,rugs and lighting to choose from as well but for me the kitchen and dining utensils are the best part. you’ll recognize designs by karin eriksson, tse & tse, and mud australia but there are also some great pieces i hadn’t seen before. you can click here to browse and shop horne’s collection online. if the website looks familiar it’s because it stems from branding that the lovely stacy pancake of pancake and franks developed for horne. she’s so fantastic.
