just a little monday morning eye candy: new ‘roof patterns’ from lisa bengtsson. designed for a swedish company called parafon, lisa’s roof patterns are designed to go on your ceiling, rather than walls. i can’t wait to see the full collection in person at icff next weekend!

when it comes to any major design show, my mind always wanders towards anything pattern-based: textiles, floor coverings and yep, wallpaper- my favorite or all favorites. and to say that jocelyn warner is one of my favorite wallpaper designers would be a massive understatement. jocelyn will be introducing two new designs at icff this year: flora (a new wallpaper inspired by historical botanical prints) and bloom (a beautiful rug depicting a single peony flower).

jocelyn’s flora wallpaper in slate (top photo above the intro) is my top pick of the new pieces- the matte black background looks thoroughly modern and classic at the same time. it’s not everyone that goes for an almost all black wallpaper but i think i could handle a small room of this pattern with a bright white ceramic chandelier (ala ms. paltrow’s kitchen chandelier). jocelyn will be showing both designs at icff this year but you can catch more information on her work right here. [thanks, simon!]

good morning! as sad as i was to leave LA, at least it’s sunny and warm here today in brooklyn. i’m gearing up for sunday’s brooklyn flea (come on down if you’re in the area!) but i’ve got black and white on my mind. when i was in LA i walked past walnut wallpaper and saw a gorgeous black and white pattern on the wall. the shop was closed so i couldn’t go in but it kept that combo on my mind so i was happy to see something vaguely similar at pottery barn of all places. their ‘overlapping leaves‘ wallpaper is $84 a roll and would be perfect for a small space that needs a little visual interest. it’s great to see larger stores starting to carry wallpaper- i can’t wait to see if they start to reissue some vintage patterns and carry those. now that would be cool. click here to check out pottery barn’s overlapping leaves.

it’s been a busy week here at d*s and today ac and i are heading off to savannah for a much needed break and a little wedding-location scouting. i’ll be blogging from savannah on monday and tuesday so stay tuned for some photos of the places we’re checking out while down in georgia. in the meantime, i’ll be posting a link to the good morning america segment i filmed as soon as it’s up, along with the date and time it will air on tv! i better run and finish packing so i’ll see you all on monday from sunny savannah. until then, here’s a summary of this week’s highlights. designer lisa bengtsson just sent over her beautiful new wallpaper pattern called “svärmor” which means “mother in law” in swedish. we all fell in love with her first wallpaper, frames, and i have a feeling the shoe-lovers in the audience will enjoy this new pattern as well. lisa explained that the pattern is made out of single shoes that come from different peroids of her life. “each shoe breaths a history of our life - some of them stay forever, others leave only a footprint behind. what I like the most about shoes is their profile, silhouette and the relationship between its shape and shadow.” you can view more photos of lisa’s latest design right here, or view her entire collection online right here. for purchase please contact designista.se or lisa’s site for a rep in your county.
